Well, either (a) sell it, (b) sell prints, not the originals, and/or (c) post all sorts of it into a gallery and put yourself out there as available for illustration work.
I don't know if art is easy for you, or if it's effortless. But, in case you don't know, it's not something that comes naturally to many. So, based on rarity alone, this talent is valuable. I used to work in publishing; we commissioned original artwork all the time. Like any business, it's tough to find clients. But, once you land a few gigs, you'll tend to retain those clients.
No matter what you do, an online portfolio is going to be in your best interest. Not sure whether a blog is your best bet... Maybe a standalone web site that you can use as a virtual gallery. Then, link there from here. If you don't own your name as a dot-com, maybe you should consider that.
